On August 8, the journey of the Itinerant Festival La Notte della Taranta, stops in Nardò on Via XXV Luglio. The Festival will cross from' August 3 to 22, 19 towns in Salento with 50 appointments to discover the richness and beauty of Salento's historic centers following the overwhelming rhythm of the pizzica. A journey that includes 2 concerts per stage with 34 guest groups and 3 special concerts by the Popular Orchestra Notte della Taranta. Space also for dance with the show Pizzica in Scena and 9 pizzica workshops that will involve the public.
A 27' edition that promises to be extraordinary and confirms La Notte della Taranta as the largest Italian traveling festival that promotes popular music as a score of emotions born from the dialogue between the arts, interweaving and creating reflections and insights with dance, stage after stage toward the August 24 Concertone in Melpignano (Le), toward the long night with the creative multiverse of Maestro Concertatore Shablo for an ambitious edition that moves from genre fusion to a mix of musical trends projecting the event, with its thousands of spectators, among the most anticipated events of the Italian summer.

At 9:30 p.m. the evening starts with the music of Tarantarneo. The group's name is not a simple reference to Taranta, one of the best-known symbols of Salento folk music, but represents a musical journey that unites the province of Taranto and the Land of Arneo. This territory stretches from San Pietro in Bevagna to Torre Inserraglio, encompassing the hinterland with Veglie, Leverano, Copertino and Nardò, and then going up through Avetrana and Manduria to the Mascia canal in Lizzano. TARANTARNEO's repertoire ranges from the indiavolata of Nardò to the Taranta of Lizzano, from the pizzica of Galatone to the Taranta of San Marzano. Each performance of the group is a journey where tradition and popular music blend with the energy of the audience, creating an atmosphere where time seems to stand still in a single shared emotion. The idea to form the group was born in 2017 from the friendship of seven friends from the provinces of Lecce and Taranto, with the aim of joining forces to research, study and pass on the common traditions of their lands. This shared passion for Salento music and culture has resulted in a project that combines tradition and innovation, carrying on the musical heritage of the area. Group members: Emanuele Liquori: drum and vocals, Francesco Pastorelli: drum and vocals, Daniele Giumentaro: accordion and vocals, Giovanni Alemanno: woodwinds, Cosimo Pastore: strings and vocals, Veronica Mele: dance, Andrea De Siena: dance.

Next on stage comes the music of Officina Zoè. They are considered the great fathers of Salento music, known for their ability to turn every performance into a pure pulse-pounding experience for dance and trance. Since 1993, this enthralling band, with its unmistakable sound, has become an ambassador of pizzica around the world. The secret of Officina Zoè's success lies in their constant search for trance and cyclicity, elements intrinsic to the arcane rhythm of tambourines and minimalist music and singing. This unique combination has allowed them to create new compositions that, while telling the story of today's world, remain deeply rooted in tradition. In 2022, Officina Zoè launched the project "Officina Zoè in IPNOTICA," where percussive rhythms, trance melodies, and evocative polyphony merge with electronics, creating a ritual that echoes as much the ancient mists of time as the electronic tribality of contemporary sound. During their career, Officina Zoè has recorded ten albums, including "Terra," "Sangue Vivo," "Miracle," "Crita," "Live in Japan," "Cursed Trouble," "Taranta Nera," "Mama Sirena," "Live in India," and "Incontri Live." In its 30-year history, the band has played at festivals, stages, squares and theaters on all continents, collaborating with numerous artists. Band members: Cinzia Marzo: vocals, flutes, tambourine, Donatello Pisanello: diatonic accordion, guitar, mandola, mouth harmonica, Lamberto Probo: tambourine, tamborra, various Salento percussion, Silvia Gallone: tambourine, vocals, Giorgio Doveri: violin, mandola, Luigi Panico: guitar, mandola, mouth harmonica. The lineup of "Officina Zoè in IPNOTICA" is enhanced by Manu PHL's electronic productions, adding another layer of depth and modernity to their already extraordinary music.

Theme of the 2024 edition of the Festival is Responsibility. After the passing of the great masters of popular music Luigi Chiriatti, Daniele Durante, and Giovanna Marini, the Festival presents the folk revival groups that over the years have inherited the rich heritage of traditional songs and are constantly experimenting with new connections.
